In December 2023 I got a new job, moved to a new town, started a new chapter of my life.

The job I have has, unfortunately, nothing to do with drawing, but I haven’t stopped practicing.

It’s frustrating but it is what it is.

Lately I’ve been practicing on drawing directly with my pen (I love the Pentel Brush Sign ones, they are so smooth and depending on the pressure applied the mark changes, very versatile!)

When I practice drawing I either use drawings I like or photographs as reference. It’s unfortunate that for many of the drawings I use as reference I don’t know who the artist is, so I’m always a bit reluctant about sharing my practice as I don’t know who to credit.

I love starting the day drawing and it’s such a pain when it’s time to stop and spend many hours doing something I perceive as meaningless and deeply boring.

I really love the black and white contrast, how it gives a kind of dramatic effect.

I know now my attempts to become an illustrator have been shy.

It’s time to be brave.
