Illustration for a gentle pirate at heart

I’m very fond of this illustration that I did for one of my friends.

My friend asked me for an illustration to print and hang in her Studio. She left me total freedom on the subject and I didn’t share anything with her before I handed the print to her.

Pirates fascinate her and we often joke about it, so it was easy for me to choose the theme.

I wanted to create an illustration that gave a sense of peace and freedom, of serene intimate happiness.

While walking on the beach one morning, I took this picture:

The double sun was just an effect of light on the phone camera, but I was charmed by it so I decided to integrate two suns in the illustration, to give it a fantasy touch, which both my friend and I love. I also used the boat in the picture as reference and turned it piratesque.

I really love the result, and my friend loved it too and framed the printed illustration to hang it in her Studio.
