Hippo flyer — A peaceful hippo doing Yoga at sunrise with a little feathery friend

My Client needed an illustration for the flyer advertising Yoga classes.

The request was a cute hippo doing yoga on the beach at sunrise, and it had to wear a lifebuoy. My Client also liked the idea of having a little bird friend around the main character, so I included it in the illustration.

I shared with my Client two proposals done in graphite and no color, as the purpose was to pinpoint the position of the character.

This was the second time I worked with this Client so there was no need to share a coloured sketch or a cleaner one.

My inspiration for this hippos were the Kinder Surprise surprises from when I was a kid in the 90s.

I loved them!

After we agreed on the position of the hippo with some modifications, I used Procreate to digitalize the drawing and deliver it to my Client in .JPEG format.

This was fun to draw and I’m satisfied with the result, it’s as peaceful and carefree as my Client wished.
